Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi, commonly known as Arif Alvi, is a Pakistani politician and dentist who has been serving as the 13th President of Pakistan since September 9, 2018. He is a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party, led by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Born on August 29, 1949, in Karachi, Pakistan, Arif Alvi completed his early education in his hometown. He later pursued higher studies in dentistry and earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the de’Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore. He subsequently obtained a Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Michigan, United States.
Alvi began his professional career as a dentist and established a successful dental practice. He also served as an associate professor and head of the Department of Prosthodontics at the de’Montmorency College of Dentistry. Alongside his dental career, Alvi developed an interest in politics and joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in its early years.
